Knitters and crocheters, let's unite in our quest to keep warm over the Chicago winters! You can pick anything you want to make that is within your skill level, and naturally we have some faves to recommend as well:
Ruuno by Nina Holubcova
This relaxed cropped knit cardigan uses Urth Yarns Lanalpaca, a cozy bouclé yarn, and features decorative faux seams and a wide ribbed collar. Surely it would also be beautiful in a non-bouclé yarn!
Gia Cardigan by ChristaCo Design
This easy crochet pattern is a versatile and stylish design suitable for all skill levels. Work this long silhouette in a ribbed texture, creating a cozy, fashionable oversized cardigan. Try making it in Malabrigo Rios or Big Bad Wool Weepaca.
Open Cardigan by Yoko Hatta
This loose-fitting cardigan is knit in three pieces in an all-over rib pattern. We love the unique construction and think it would work up beautifully in Malabrigo Rios or Movers & Makers Wicker Park Worsted.
Calm Cardi by Detroit Knots
The making and wearing of this crochet cardigan will bring you calm. Aside from a cozy fit, Calm Cardi features those cool integrated pockets. This is another one we think would be pretty great in Malabrigo Rios or Movers & Makers Wicker Park Worsted.
Strikke Cocoon Cardigan by Moogly
This shrug-style cardigan is easy to make and has an oversize fit with short cozy ribbed sleeves. Maybe try knitting this out of The Fiber Co Tundra or Blue Sky Fibers Techno.
HexaGranny Cardigan by Toni Lipsey
Toni's crocheted cardigan walks you through her step-by-step process to make your own custom cardi. Choose the weight of yarn you want to work with, DK, worsted or bulky!
Juno Shrug by Stitch & Hustle
This crocheted shrug is perfect for advanced beginners looking to expand their skills. This pattern offers a textured design with positive ease, creating a cozy and stylish shrug. We've been dying to make this one out of Malabrigo Noventa.
Cozy Cardi CAL/KAL runs on Saturdays from 3pm to 5pm beginning October 4th and ending December 13th. If you finish one, start another! Everyone who gets photographed in their finished cardi gets a prize!
Participation in the CAL/KAL is free with your yarn purchase. We understand that sometimes you might already have stash yarn you want to use, so if that is the case, you can still join the CAL/KAL for a $50 fee. Come on in, give us a call at 773.486.8996, or email us at info@ninachicago.com, and we will be happy to assist you with your yarn selection and add you to our list of participants. Please note that the CAL/KAL is NOT a class. If you need help with your pattern, we recommend you contact us to set up a lesson.
