January 18th, February 1st, February 15th & March 1st

The new year is the perfect time to dive into a new sweater project! Chel is excited to lead this workshop and show you all the ways you can use crocheted granny squares to create garments. This workshop kicks off on Sunday, January 18th and meets every other week for two months, giving you plenty of time to work on your sweaters between classes.

*Please note this workshop is for advanced beginner to intermediate crocheters who are already very familiar with granny squares. The basics of granny squares will not be taught in this workshop.

What you will learn here:

• how to use granny squares in a pattern

• various methods for joining granny squares

• different types of sweater construction that use granny squares

• understanding and adapting to patterns that use granny squares

There are a zillion fun granny square patterns out there, but Chel has a few favorite recommendations you can choose from:

Rainbow Granny Square Sweater by Hannah Cross - Simply four big granny squares with edging! DK weight and available in nine sizes.

Campfire Cardigan by Jess Coppom - Made with two big granny hexagons and finished off with granny stitch extensions, which is a super easy way to shape a sweater with minimal changes to the traditional square. Aran weight and available in three sizes, which can be adapted pretty easily.

Lowrider Cardigan by Iron Lamb - A granny stitch raglan that can be made with/without the row of squares at the bottom of the body. DK weight and available in eight sizes.

Granny Square Cardigan by Kaitlin Barthold - No frills here, just good ole' granny squares joined with a bit of edge stitching. DK weight and available in four sizes.

Gemini Jumper by Lauren Willis - This one is for you if you are feeling ambitious! A customizable combination of the straight granny stitch and squares that can be joined seamlessly as you go.

Jethro by Tanis Lavallee - For those who have both knitting and crochet under their belt. The body is all granny squares, while the sleeves and ribbing are knit. DK weight and available in six sizes.

This class will be small and each participant will get very specialized attention. Chel will also be sharing all of her tips and tricks from a lifetime of crochet, and her 6+ years of garment crocheting experience. This is an advanced beginner to intermediate-level class and participants should be very comfortable with crochet basics and granny square construction.

Classes are for adults and young adults aged 16 years or older.
