What is it?

At each year's end, we put together a fun mystery box for our customers to open early the following year. This is intentionally done AFTER the holiday season, with a distribution in mid to late-January, which gifts a lovely post-holiday surprise at a much-needed time for many of you and your loved ones!

What to know before ordering:

Each box contains anywhere from about ten to twenty surprise gifts, wrapped with sequential numbers. You can open them all at once or space them out as long as you like. We've had customers spread it out over six months! The experience is yours and you should make it what you want it to be.

Yarn (of your color choice) and a mystery knit-along are part of the box. This new design will be released at least one month after the boxes are distributed. This year's yarn is variety of textures in a tonal color of your choosing, and there will be knit pattern options for a hat, small shawl, or pair of mitts. If you are allergic or sensitive to any fibers, let us know about possible substitutions. Please remember that you don't have to do the KAL and that the yarn can also be used for the knitting/crochet/weaving/etc project of your choice. We will be happy to help with ideas once you've opened everything!

Everything else is a surprise...

Also in the box will be a variety of accessories and treats, some yarn-related, some from local businesses, and some things we just know you'll love! In the past, we've included things like stitch markers, lip balms, pom poms, wool soap, project bags, tea, chocolate... we could go on and on. We encourage you to read some of our reviews to hear the experiences some others have had with our Luxe Box!

Boxes must be pre-ordered and our order window closes Sunday, November 15th. The flat shipping rate for each box is $10, and pick-up is free, of course. Boxes will be available to be picked up and shipped in mid to late-January of 2027.

I got the Luxe Box last year, and it was so fun! It delivers in mid-late January when most people are feeling the effects of post-holiday humdrum. That’s when my birthday happens to be, so I like to get it as a present for myself.

There are multiple numbered packages inside the box with all kinds of fun things. In addition to yarn, the box includes things like tea, candles, chocolate, stitch markers, lip balm, etc. with a focus on local companies. I like to open all the packages at once, but you could space it out if you have more patience and willpower than me.

The box was a treat from beginning to end! Opening a little something special every day is so fun during the post-holiday doldrums. I've gotten the box (knitting version) as a gift every year since it was the Box of Cheer, and it has not disappointed once. It comes full of fun surprises, from notions to candles to edible treats (think tea/coffee, chocolate, etc.) to gorgeous yarn & more. There's a slowly revealed pattern that you can either KAL as you open the box or wait for the end of the box to start. And if you don't like that pattern, the shop will suggest other projects more to your taste for the aforementioned gorgeous yarn. Get one & enjoy!

I highly recommend the box and look forward to next year's! It's the perfect January pick-me-up, especially when opening with a friend or after a hard day. Hilary and the Nina team put together an amazingly thoughtful box! The yarn is divine and a dream to knit with. The high-quality accessories are also the perfect combination of cute and useful, and sometimes custom for the box. They are sometimes things that you may not have realized you "need", but then use a lot. Oh, and then there's the occasional non-fiber treat from Chicago-area small businesses, with a description for each item and why it was chosen for the box!

I have purchased the Luxe Box every year and have never been disappointed! The thought that goes into the selections in the box shows.

The true luxury here was experiencing the thoughtfulness behind the selection and curation of the different items. Lovely yarn, with a fun and well-edited pattern to encourage immediate use is coupled with pieces that improved my knitting experience – candles, knitting notions, and other elements. Hilary and her team find a mix of local and global items to put together in this delightful package.

The Luxe Box never disappoints. Each box is thoughtfully put together and includes everything you need, from a pattern and beautiful yarn to make it, to stitch markers, coffee, candy and treats that make knitting it feel special. Every item feels chosen with care.
While the plan is to open one item a day, in reality by day two or three I have the entire box opened- I simply cannot wait to see what else is included. Absolutely no regrets!
I will also say last year one of the color ways was named after me and I am still smiling about it!
I wouldn’t miss it!
