Many knitters find it difficult to choose from all of the options there are for knitting socks and other small circumference projects. You've got options like double points, tiny circulars, FlexiFlips, and the magic loop method. What the heck are all of these and how are you supposed to decide?

Wouldn't it be great if you could just try them all before making the investment in your favorite? Well, here you go!

In this three-part class, we're going to work a sock, top-down. Before we even get started, we're gonna try out various needles and methods. At the end of the first session, we will get the sock started. In the second session, we will work the heel construction and in the third, you'll learn how to finish off the toe. While you get comfortable knitting a small circumference on your method of choice, you'll also learn short rows, picking up stitches, mirroring decreases, and grafting with the Kitchener stitch.

Hilary is working with the Uneek Worsted to make some slipper socks for lounging, because she's always wanted to play with self-striping yarn. You can certainly do the same, but if you want something a little sturdier for walking around in, consider the Schoppel-Wolle Alb Zauber Extra, Movers & Makers Wicker Park Worsted, Fuzz Family Auntie Afghan Worsted, or  Malabrigo Rios.

You won't find a more perfect class to make your first pair of socks! Students should be comfortable with knitting and purling, and familiar with basic shaping techniques.
